Raising funds and memorable experiences through our big, bold and colourful dragon boat regattas.

Client: Grosvenor Group

Event: Charity Fundraising Day

Activity: Dragon Boat Regatta

Introduction

Dragon Boating is where it all began for Team Activity Group, and our regattas remain one of our favourite events to stage. They’re big, bold and colourful and always create amazing experiences and memories. It’s especially nice to help a long-standing customer raise money for some really good causes.

About Grosvenor

Grosvenor is an international organisation whose activities span urban property, food and agtech, rural estate management and support for philanthropic initiatives.

Groundwork has been Grosvenor Property UK’s charity partner for the last three years and we have raised £146k by Dragon Boating.

We spoke to Zannelle Davies, who organised our collaboration with Grosvenor about her experience.

Event objectives

The dragon boat regatta is a chance to bring together Grosvenor staff with members of their supply chain including their customers, suppliers and partners. They have around 36 teams in total and everyone fundraisers for Groundwork.

The regatta is designed to build and strengthen new and existing relationships in addition to supporting Groundwork.

The venue for this amazing event is Dorney Lake, which has ample space to accommodate all the fun, with the infrastructure to deal with the racing and catering needed for a great competition.

Event execution

Reflecting back on the event, Zannelle said “TAG are fantastic. They organised everything, all I had to do was bring the people. But it’s not just the logistics that are taken care of – they also play a really important role in keeping everyone on track, sharing the odd top tip for racing and winning, and encouraging the paddlers when they start flagging a bit. It’s such a fun day out.”

Zannelle went on to explain how important the event was in letting the consultants from the business come together to chat and get to know each other outside of the work environment. “It’s such a social opportunity for us all, so even more kudos to TAG for keeping everyone in line – it’s hard to get people to listen when there’s so much going on but they always nail it.”

Results and feedback

For 2024, the amount raised was an incredible £54,000 for Grosvenor’s charity. Zannelle was delighted with the whole experience saying “TAG are just brilliant, full of fun, so organised and always there to sort out any issues.”

“We had our first person overboard in over ten years of running the event this year. She was a swimmer so just swam to the bank, but it was great to have the peace of mind knowing TAG had plan A, B, C and D for this sort of thing. It’s just brilliant to work with the TAG team.”

A regatta has so many moving parts, it takes a lot of organising and coordinating to ensure everyone has the equipment they need, is where they should be, the racing can happen, the competition takes place, the trophy can be awarded and the pack down is completed.

It’s hard work, there’s no doubt about it, but it’s so rewarding and remains one of our favourite events.
