Day 1

12:30 arrive at Derwent Country House and drop bags (Please have lunch before you arrive)

13:30 welcome and briefing for cycle challenge

13:45/14:00 depart for Cycle Challenge

Cycle Challenge (click for route)- 17km/10miles - Derwent Valley

Day 2

07:45 Depart for Edale

15:00 - 16:00 complete the walk and meet in local pub in Hope

  • We will be staying at

    The Derwent Country House, Bamford Derbyshire.

    Here is a link to their webpage.

    We have exclusive use of the Derwent for 2 nights 12th & 13th July.

    It offers shared rooms for 2 or more guests sharing either bunk beds, single or double beds.

  • We ask that you make your own arrangements to get to The Derwent Country House and share cars with your colleagues.

    There is limited parking at the Derwent Country House

    We have arranged mini buses to take you from the accommodation to the cycle challenge and the walking challenge.

    Sheffield (direct trains from London/Leeds/Manchester/Birmingham) 13 miles

    Bamford Village Station (direct trains fromManchester/Sheffield) 0.8miles (2 mins drive or 15mins walk – no taxis)

    Chesterfield (direct trains from London/ Leeds/Manchester/ Birmingham)16 miles

  • Bed linen towels are provided.

    We recommend bringing slippers/indoor shoes as you are asked to remove shoes inside the property.

  • We will be allocating rooms based on gender and the information supplied on the application form.

  • WJFG chefs will be joining us in the Peak District.

    On Wednesday the 12th July, dinner will be served.

    On Thursday the 13th July, breakfast, packed lunch, dinner will all be provided.

    On Friday 14th July, Breakfast will be provided before the trip back home.

    You may wish to bring some supplementary snacks for your challenge along the way.

    Day 3 - Friday 14th July

    All to depart by 10:00

  • Day 1 - The Cycle Challenge will take about 1.5 to 2 hours.

    Day 2 - The walking Challenge will take about 6 hours.

  • There will be 5 groups of 5 participants with one mountain leader each.

  • The groups will be determined by the ability of the participants.

    We will pre-select the groups from the information given on the application form, and will make any final changes on the evening before the challenge.

  • No, the mountain leaders will know the way and be able to help at any point through the trek.

  • At the start there are toilets but not beyond this, we recommend that you bring toilet tissue and a bag to take any used tissue away with you.

  • As much as we are dog lovers, we ask that you leave your dogs at home for this challenge.
