This form is required to be completed for your application to attend the WJFG Snowdon Challenge.

Applications close on June 2024.

Confirmation of your place on the challenge will be confirmed week commencing June 2024.

FAQs

  • We will be staying at

    The Rocks Hostel.

    Here is a link to their webpage.

    We have exclusive use of the Rocks Hostel for 2 nights 27th & 28th September.

    It offers shared rooms from 2 guests sharing to 8 guests sharing.

  • We ask that you make your own arrangements to get to The Rocks Hostel and share cars with your colleagues.

    There is limited parking at the Rocks Hostel.

    We have arranged mini buses to take you from the hostel to the start of the challenge at Pen-y-pass and return from Llanberis, the finish of the challenge

  • Bed linen and one towel will be provided.

    We recommend bringing slippers/indoor shoes

    There is a drying room at the hostel.

  • We will be allocating rooms based on gender and the information supplied on the application form.

  • WJFG Chefs will be joining us in Snowdonia.

    On Tuesday the 27th September, dinner will be served at 6.30pm.

    On Wednesday the 28th September, breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea after the trek up the mountain and dinner will all be provided.

    On Thursday 29th September, Breakfast will be provided before the trip back home.

    You may wish to bring some supplementary snacks for the your challenge up Mount Snowden.

  • The Rocks Hostel is tucked away in the ancient mountain village of Capel Curig.

    5 miles from the hostel is the beautiful quaint Victorian village of Betws-y-Coed. You will find an abundance of local shops.

  • There is WiFi available at the Rocks Hostel.

  • Tuesday 27th September.

    Timings for 27th are to be confirmed.

    Please don’t arrive at the hostel before 5.00pm.

    You are welcome to arrive in Snowdonia and explore the local area before this time.

    There will be a welcome briefing at 7.30pm - so please make sure you have arrived by this time.

    Dinner will be served at 6.30pm.

    Wednesday 28th September

    Timings for 28th are to be confirmed.

    Breakfast will be served from 7.00am.

    The first groups will depart for the walk from 8.30am.

    Afternoon tea will be available from 4.30pm.

    Dinner will be served at 7.00pm.

    Thursday 29th September

    Timings for 29th are to be confirmed.

    Breakfast will be served from 7.00am.

    You need to depart the hostel by 10am.

  • We planned to ascent of Mount Snowdon up the Pyg Path.

  • A typical day up Snowdon can take 7 to 8 hours depending on the group size, fitness, experience, weather and if they chose to have a cafe break at the summit. It usually takes around 4 hours to climb to the summit.

  • We have arranged for WJFG Chefs to join us on the challenge and they will provide you with a nutritious breakfast with plenty of complex carbohydrates and protein, eg. porridge with peanut butter and banana.

    WJFG Chefs will provide you with a nutritious packed lunch to take on the challenge, which you will need to carry in your ruck-sac. You may wish to supplement some of your own snacks - both savoury and sweet, whole foods like malt loaf, mixed fruits and nuts, oat cakes, raw fruit bars, dark chocolate. These are just some examples there are plenty more.

    Evening meals will be provided on both 27th and 28th September at the accommodation.

  • We will have 6 mountain leaders each leading a group of 6 participants.

  • The groups will be determined by the ability of the participants.

    We will pre-select the groups from the information given on the application form, and will make any final changes on the evening before the challenge.

  • No, the mountain leaders will know the way and be able to help at any point through the trek.

  • At the start there are toilets but not beyond this, we recommend that you bring toilet tissue and a bag to take any used tissue away with you.

  • As much as we are dog lovers, we ask that you leave your dogs at home for this challenge.

  • The cafe closes for the season on 11th September 2022, so will not be open for our challenge.

  • The train will not be running at the time of our challenge. It finishes operating for the season on 11th September.
