30 things to include in your 2025 event plan

As we reach the end of our 30th business birthday year, we’re looking ahead and sharing 30 essential elements to consider for your 2025 event planning.

Whether you're organising a team-building day, a corporate retreat, or a charity fundraiser, these tips will help you create an event that stands out and delivers lasting impact.

  1. Clear Objectives: Start with a clear understanding of what you want to achieve from your event. Are you aiming to boost team morale, encourage creativity, or raise funds for a good cause?

  2. Engaging Activities: Incorporate activities that resonate with your participants, whether it’s cryptic challenges, creative workshops, or outdoor adventures.

  3. Venue Selection: Choose a venue that aligns with your event’s theme and logistical needs. Consider accessibility, amenities, and the atmosphere you want to create, or ask us who we’d recommend!

  4. Technology Integration: Technology can be used in so many ways, from interactive polls and quizzes to the activities themselves. We have everything from retro tech to futuristic!

  5. Food For Fun: If you’re in doubt about anything too active for your conference, why not try a food-related activity? We have so much choice, from cocktails, to chocolate and even sushi making.

  6. Team Building: Include activities that promote collaboration and communication among participants. Our team-building challenges are designed to bring teams closer together, whether indoor, outdoor or even in a historic location.

  7. Dressing Up: We had to include this as an element in its own right! It never fails to amaze us how ready people are for a fun costume or a silly hat. We have a few activities where dressing up is integral but, to be honest, most of them work whatever you are wearing!

  8. Engineers At The Ready: Getting people to design and build something is a great way of engaging a range of skillsets and really role-playing how a team works. Our design-and-build activities are always popular – choose from Formula R, Creative Hot Wheels, or the Tall Ship Challenge to name just a few!

  9. Networking Opportunities: Every event is a networking opportunity but if you want to really focus on people making new links, why not include our Nordic walking and netwalking activities?

  10. Safety Measures: We recognise the importance of everyone’s safety and wellbeing at every event we organise. It’s a serious but important point and one we always take responsibility for so our clients can get on with enjoying the activities!

  11. Entertainment: If your event is a dinner or drinks reception, consider adding in some entertainment to liven it up. We have a great range of options to choose from.

  12. Do Something New: A day out of the office is a great opportunity to try something you’ve never done before. Some of our more unusual activities include dragon boat racing, scavenger challenges, or the scientific cooking challenge that is Molecular Spectacular.

  13. Consult An Expert!: If you’re asking us to manage your event, you won’t need to worry about anything other than turning up and having a good time, but if you’re going it alone, we’d recommend reading our lessons learned blog.

  14. Budget Planning: Create a detailed budget that accounts for all expenses, including contingencies. Having a clear budget is critical to getting your event signed off by decision-makers as well as making sure you can include everything you want to.

  15. Feedback: We always ask for feedback at the end of an event, because it helps us continually improve what we do. Here’s what our clients say about us

  16. Brand Messaging: Teambuilding events or staff away-days are the perfect opportunity to share strategy, vision or goals. Lots of our activities lend themselves well to focusing on values or communicating with delegates about the power of collaboration or the importance of listening.

  17. Sports Day Without The Kids?: Every race is a parent race when your teambuilding day has a sports day theme. Take yourself right back to your youth with skipping races, egg and spoon and some interesting takes on discus, shot-put and javelin.

  18. Photography and Videography: Be sure to capture memorable moments to preserve the memories and even for display back at the office. We’re always happy to recommend photographers we’ve worked with before.

  19. High and Low Energy: Not everything we offer involves racing around at high speed. We recognise that different people enjoy different things so we’ve got some wonderfully relaxing pursuits for you to include too. Our canoeing or river trips are good water-based options, with croquet or yoga  to choose from, for those who prefer dry land.

  20. Team Recognition: This is such a great way to boost morale and, if it’s tied into the activity, we have medals we can hand out to winners in a prize-giving ceremony.

  21. Charity Component: Clients are increasingly asking us to help with their charitable endeavours. Raising money during your event is a great way to help your people give something back and we have a range of activities available.

  22. Corporate Social Responsibility: In a similar vein to charity fundraising, some clients love to create something that will make a difference. We have a selection of wonderful causes that can be supported during your event..

  23. Event Timeline: Timing is something we’ll discuss in detail when we start planning your event and, as we also work closely with your venue, we can manage their constraints too.

  24. Logistics Management: Pay attention to logistical details such as transportation and accommodation. Many of our venues have accommodation and, if they don’t, we can advise on what else is available nearby.

  25. Whatever the Weather: Understandably, people worry about the weather when planning an event. Read our blog to find out how to ensure your event isn’t a wash-out!

  26. Creativity Matters: It’s a proven fact that when people get creative lots more good things happen. They engage more, they’re happier, they have more good ideas (creativity breeds creativity).  We have some excellent creative activities from art workshops to movie making or even drumming.

  27. The Personal Touch: What better way to share your corporate updates than with an event that’s right on brand. Our very popular Masterpiece activity can be tailored to use artwork that has a specific message or meaning.

  28. Health and Wellness: Offer wellness activities like yoga sessions or Nordic walking to promote attendee well-being.

  29. It’s All About the Timing!: Holding your event at a special time of year? Many of our activities can be customised to make them perfect for festive or other celebrations.

  30. Celebrate Success: Finally, reflect on the event’s success and lessons learned to continuously improve future events – and get your best date booked well in advance for next time!

Planning an event can be daunting, but with strategic thinking and attention to detail, you can create an unforgettable experience. At TAG Events, we’re here to support you every step of the way. Let’s make your 2025 event a standout success!
